Look for the “SafeFlush Technology” Symbol on the Package

Both, Cottonelle and Scott Flushable wipes are manufactured by the same company, Kimberly-Clark, which have the patented “SafeFlush Technology”. Always check for the SafeFlush Technology symbol before buying anyBest Flushable Toilet Wipes Flushable Toilet Wipes; this will ensure you they are safe to flush down your toilet. Many tests have been performed to prove that the two products shown above immediately break down after flushing.

Use Common Sense, Let’s be Fair

Let’s be fair about the number of Flushable Toilet Wipes we use when using the toilet. Don’t test how many wipes you can flush by filling up the toilet bowl. You wouldn’t do that with regular toilet paper, so why do it with wipes? Be reasonable and only flush a few wipes at a time, like toilet paper.

It’s better to put a few in, then flush, put a few more in and flush again. Give your drain a chance to flow properly; don’t overdo it. If you put too much air in a balloon it’s going to bust; if you put too much toilet paper or too many wipes in your toilet you certainly could cause a plumbing problem. Use common sense and be reasonable. Follow my “Do-Flush Rule” shown on my home page.

Will Flushable Wipes Dissolve in Your Septic Tank?

It’s another Jar Test, a test you could perform at home to satisfy your own doubts about flushing the wipes down the toilet; also it gives you an idea of what will happen to the wipes while they’re sitting in your septic tank.

Not a single Kimberly-Clark Flushable Wipe was found

Here is proof the Kimberly-Clark Flushable Wipes brands like Cottonelle and Scott do not cause a problem in drain lines, sewers, pumps, and septic and municipal treatment systems.

In 2016 New York City conducted a Sewer Collection Study and found that most materials collected were not designed to be flushed; even products that were supposed to be “flushable” were not.

Check out the diagram on the home page of the study done on Non-Flushable items. You will see that 2% of all the material studied, were flushable wipes, but not a single Kimberly-Clark flushable wipe was found.

In other words, all Kimberly-Clark flushable wipes dissolved in the system and were not to be found as part of the non-flushable material in the study.

This proves that Cottonelle and Scott Flushable wipes are safe to use.

Forensic Study Results on “Flushable Wipes”, More Proof

A scientific study was performed in 2016 at the Wards Island Wastewater Treatment Facility in New York City to identify all the non-dispersible materials (materials that won’t dissolve in the system), and name the specific brands that were causing these major water treatment problems.

The facility treats 275 million gallons of wastewater per day; it struggles constantly with material flowing through the system that won’t dissolve (non-dispersible material). This material plugs up screens and burdens the material disposal units. It also interferes with valves and clogs up pumps.

The scientific study’s objective is to identify all the materials and the specific brand names of those materials that are causing the problem.

In the total amount of non-dispersible material collected, “Flushable wipes” were approximately 2% of the total sample size. A diagram showing the breakdown is displayed on the homepage of this website.

Below are charts of the two separate testing sites, the Bronx Channel, and the Manhattan Channel.

You will notice the Kimberly-Clark brands of flushable wipes “Cottonelle” and “Scott” were not mentioned or found, this again is showing more proof they are safe to use.

You will also notice brands you shouldn’t use, brands that could cause a problem.
